Weekend Blogging Retreat - Trip Plan

I’m heading off to a blogger’s retreat weekend with THE PURPLE TEACUP CO! I’ve never had the opportunity to participate in anything like this and am soooo looking forward to the experience. You want me to spend the weekend in Florida meeting a bunch of my online friends, surrounded by people who understand my blogging love? YES. I’m in.

who is going?

I’ll be going alone as far as travel and family are concerned. This one little weekend will have me checking all kinds of firsts off my list- first flight alone, first retreat, FIRST NIGHT AWAY FROM MY MINI MAN… I’m a fan of solo time so I’m excited to get a little solitude during travel but I’d be straight out lying if I said I wasn’t also panicking a little about my first trip without Mini. (It’s fine. I’m fine… I’ll be sure to share some tips when I get back and have survived!)

When I get there, I’ll be meeting and hanging out with some of the best ladies in the webiverse! About 30 bloggers from The Purple Teacup COMMUNITY are coming in from different parts of the country to work, learn, and relax together. I’m looking forward to getting to know all the ladies in person who I only know through Facebook right now.

where are we heading?

Back to Florida! Woooooo! (If you didn’t know, I was just in Florida for a family trip to DISNEY.) The retreat is happening at the absolutely stunning HARBOR OAKS in Melbourne, Florida. Their site calls it “a Harbor Stay retreat in paradise.” Obviously I’ve never been before so I can’t say for absolute sure yet… but I’m thinking this will probably be the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed.

The photos look INCREDIBLE. It has 6 bedrooms with bunk beds and other fun sleeping options- top bunker here- and 7.5 bathrooms. There are wall to wall windows, a jacuzzi, private dock, firepit…. Plus you can apparently see dolphins and manatee out in the water around the house. Bonus: It’s not far from a really cool arts district and some interesting touristy things so if I decide to leave paradise, there are options.

when are we going?

Our crew of bloggers will be descending on Florida’s space coast in April 2019. I’m particularly grateful that we won’t have to contend with crushing heat and humidity of Florida summer. We check in for the weekend Friday afternoon and check out Sunday morning.

why are we going?

Rest. Relaxation. Networking. Learning. Here’s what I know from what’s been revealed to us attendees: Hope (The Purple Teacup’s owner) created this retreat weekend to give us hardworking ladies time to focus on ourselves and our businesses and provide us with some light training while we’re at it.

what are we doing while there?

Friday looks like it’s going to be all fun- welcome dinner and just hanging out together.
Saturday we have a variety of training sessions until about 4:00 on all kinds of blogging topics- promotion, graphics, branding, photography, mindset, time mangement, etc. Then there’s free time to work and enjoy the trip in whatever way we’d like. I think I’m going to wait and see how I’m feeling before deciding whether I want to commit to jumping in on a group dinner out or sneaking off on my own.
On Sunday I’m pulling together a group to head over to Disney Springs with me for brunch at Raglan Road! (Yes, I have a Disney problem.) I figured it’d be a guaranteed nice end to the trip before hopping back on the plane and heading home.
It’s a retreat, not a conference, so even our trainings look like they’re going to be fun and interactive and there will be no sitting in a stuffy conference room for hours on end.
There’s bound to be tears because Hope’s the master at making us ladies break down walls and overcome barriers. I’m looking forward to the entire trip!
